2 simple solutions to Prevent Data Plan Overage Charges – Android Edition

Have you ever been overboard with your phone Data plan? Overrage Fees are incredibly expensive in Canada. For that reason i’ll be sharing with you the 2 ways you can prevent going overboard with your dataplan.

Data Saver

On Android there is a feature called data saver. Its off by default but if you turn it on, it allows you to select which app have access to the Internet when you are not connected on the wifi network. Thats alone could save you ton of bandwidth.

To activate the feature, go to setings –> Wifi and Internet –> Data saver

Hit to toggle switch to turn it on

Under the toggle switch is an option that says “Unrestricted Data”, if you click on it, it shows you a list of all the apps on your phone, and from there you can toggle wich apps should have unrestricted access to the LTE network.

Data Warning and data limit

This is an extra step you can take to make sure you never go overboard with your data.

The warning can be set to a lower value to warn you when you are approching the limit of your data plan.

The limit is well a hard limit. It cuts off the data once you reach the limit.
