Building the perfect Media Server Mini series – Episode 1: Installing Ubuntu

Installing Ubuntu server on an old computer.

Download the isntallation files from the ubuntu Website.

download the Iso file to your computer

If you dont already have it, download balena etcher here.

Download it and install it if you dont already have it.

Use belena etcher to flash the local iso file to a USB flash drive.

Carefull the flash drive will get completely erased in the process.

Once the flash drive is ready, reboot your computer and go into boot menu.

On Asus motherboards you press esc to get to that menu before anything has the chance to load.

In this tutorial we will be setting ubuntu server on an old computer that you might have laying around the house erasing everything that is currently on it. So make sure you have a backup of any important files before we start.
