The shocking truth about door sensors
The socking truth about door sensors.
This is the good the bad and the ugly things i now know about door sensors that i wished i knew before buying any of them.
Sonoff VS Aqara VS others.
This is my own personnal opinion and you should always do your own research bewfore buying anything or before not buying something. My experience and the way i use theses devices might be totally different from your own experience with the same product. So always make you due dilligeance and do not take my word for it.
Thses products work great, but as far as i am concerned, they are not perfect for my use case. The batteries is something that i had to replace on multiple occasions. The Sonoff has a CR2032 battery and the aqara a CR1632 battery. The first is easy to find in most stores, its the usual computer motherboard battery. The second i couldn't find anywhere and i was forced to order a set of 5 over at Amazon. I do not like ordering online, maybee its just me or maybee its just my generation. I'm getting old and i'd rather have a human to deal with then having to ship something back to an invisible retailer.
As far as battery life, i'm not impressed. The Sonoff i kept changing the batteries every 6 to 7 months. The aquara lasted a bit more but i'd say no more than 8 months. They advertise 2 years but to be fair i left mine outside in the cold inside my mailbox at -20 Celsius. Maybe this explains the reason why it did not last as long as advertised. Detection on Sonoff is not 100% accurate. I had occasions where it did not register. But then again, was it my home assistant instance that was down?
